Project: Data Collection Training for APMI in Zimbabwe and Mozambique

Client: World Poultry Foundation

Date: January 2021 – April 2021

The Problem

The World Poultry Foundation (WPF),an NGO that  focuses on improving poultry production and economic growth in developing countries, through its African Poultry Multiplication Initiative, was looking to expand their operations to Mozambique and Zimbabwe and track the performance of their brooder units and smallholder farmers. WPF was thus looking for a partner to develop a tailored digital data collection system, and deliver training to their staff in these data collection processes.

The Solution

Agova developed a data collection application and associated forms in CommCare and delivered data collection training on these to over 60 field staff and supervisors in Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Agova further developed a comprehensive supporting data collection field guide which is available in English and Portuguese.

Results

Agova’s data collection system has helped WPF to collect data from smallholder farmers and brooder units on a bi-weekly basis since June 2021. Because data is available in real-time, WPF can identify and resolve issues promptly. The data is further helping to refine program design and implementation.
