Project: Capacity Development of We Effect Partner Organizations in Financial Sustainability

Client: We Effect

Date: May  2021 – July 2021

The Problem

We Effect’s regional programme experienced a surge in demand for organisational development assessments and financial management support from Partner Organisations (POs) in Southern Africa. Many POs lacked the knowledge and tools needed to create effective Financial Sustainability Plans, hindering their long-term viability.

The Solution

Agova provided training and mentoring for 19 staff members from We Effect and its Partner Organisations, including Sustainable Cotton for Women and Youth in Southern Africa, AICC, ESACO, FONPA, ZCGA, ZFU, and ZAWEDA. The tailored program focused on:

  • Introducing financial sustainability principles and pillars.
  • Setting financial targets and understanding financial policies, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Developing financial strategies and management plans.
Agova emphasized hands-on learning through group work, presentations, and organization-specific exercises to help participants develop Financial Sustainability Plans.

Results

The training enabled participants to actively engage in creating tailored Financial Sustainability Plans for their organisations. This participatory approach ensured a deeper understanding of financial sustainability, equipping POs with the tools needed for long-term growth and resilience.
