Project: Rapid Appraisal of AATIF Investment in 260 Brands Foods

Client: AATIF/ Seba Foods

Date: 2021-2022

The Problem

The Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund (AATIF) needed to assess the performance of its investment in Seba Foods Limited, a subsidiary of 260 Brands Foods, against seven impact dimensions, including employment, local processing, and environmental management.

The Solution

Agova designed a rapid appraisal using a results chain approach to identify key indicators for baseline and end-line tracking. A team of 2 supervisors and 6 enumerators collected data from 125 smallholder farmers in Kasama and Mungwi Districts via Kobo Collect, conducted 6 focus group discussions, and held key informant interviews with company staff.

Results

Agova delivered a comprehensive baseline report with actionable recommendations to improve Seba Foods’ performance on AATIF’s impact dimensions, enabling the company to track and enhance its social, environmental, and economic impact effectively.
